Oakwood Laboratories' new commercial scale Manufacturing facility will be used for the production of products for our licensee partners as well as production of Oakwood's own products employing CHRONIJECT technology.

Oakwood Laboratories is a privately owned specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the design, development and commercial manufacture of sterile injectable sustained release pharmaceuticals. This is a unique class of products that deliver therapeutic levels of drug to patients over days, weeks, months or even years with a single intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. Products of this class have extremely high commercial potential.

Oakwood developed and owns a patented microsphere-based drug delivery platform called CHRONIJECT™ to produce these sustained release products. This complex technology enables drugs to be incorporated into bioresorbable polymer microspheres by a continuous process.

Oakwood's business focus is a niche within the larger pharmaceutical drug delivery sector. Competition in the injectable sustained release product space is limited, as barriers to entry are steep. Success requires specialized knowledge in formulation and analytical chemistry, patented technology that actually works, process engineering to advance from development to commercial batch scales, expertise in sterile facilities, microbiology, manufacturing and strict compliance with complicated FDA regulations.

Oakwood concentrates exclusively in this drug delivery space. We are advancing our lead products, and building successful partnerships with major and specialty pharmaceutical companies worldwide.

Oakwood Laboratories was founded as the research division of Ben Venue Laboratories, the largest and most experienced parenteral company in the world. In 1997 it was spun off as a separate entity when Ben Venue was acquired by Boehringer-Ingelheim. Oakwood's founders, Edward C. Smith and Mark T. Smith were C.E.O and the Director of Business Development of Ben Venue and were responsible for starting Ben Venue's generic division, Bedford Laboratories.
